The investigation has developed into a chapter-based documentary series bringing together historical material, forensic questions, scientific evidence, archaeology and competing interpretations.

PROJECT TIMELINE
A formal request was submitted through DRL Services BV seeking permission for two non-invasive methods of scientific examination of the Shroud. The request developed directly from the research behind Sworn To Secrecy.
The project continues to distinguish the request for further testing from any claim about what those tests would ultimately establish.
Publication marked the transition from years of research into a public presentation of the case, using a courtroom structure in which evidence and counterarguments can be weighed.

RESEARCH BACKGROUND
These items belong to the interpretive and theological background of the project. They are presented here separately from the scientific and historical evidence concerning the Shroud itself.
ANCIENT PROPHECIES
The original News archive brought together several Old Testament passages that Christians interpret as relating to events in the life of Jesus.
Bethlehem is identified in Christian interpretation as the promised ruler’s place of origin.
The passage is interpreted in Christian theology as anticipating the birth of Jesus.
The reference to thirty pieces of silver is associated in Christian interpretation with Judas.
The psalm contains details Christians have long connected with the Passion narratives.
The passage is interpreted by Christians as pointing toward the Messiah not remaining among the dead.
THE MAN CLOTHED IN LINEN
The Man Clothed in Linen explores the prophetic numbers 1290, 1335 and 45 in the Book of Daniel and presents Donald Leichel’s interpretation of their relationship to Biblical chronology and messianic themes. These theological interpretations are distinct from the empirical case concerning the physical Shroud.
