Sworn To Secrecy is currently in production as an ambitious multi-chapter documentary series based on the work of author Donald Leichel. At its centre lies one of history's most persistent and controversial objects: the Shroud of Turin.
Rather than presenting the case as a conventional documentary, the evidence is brought into a dramatic courtroom setting. A judge, prosecution, defence and expert witnesses examine competing claims while the viewer is taken far beyond the courtroom through a richly cinematic visual journey across history, archaeology, science and the world of the biblical accounts.
The investigation follows the Shroud from its historical and forensic evidence to questions surrounding its age, origin, image formation and the identity of the man whose image it carries. Along the way, the series explores subjects ranging from Roman crucifixion and ancient burial practices to the carbon dating controversy, Mount Tabor, modern physics and the extraordinary claims surrounding the Resurrection.
Every claim is subjected to the same principle: evidence must not be given more weight than it can carry. Established facts, competing interpretations, testable hypotheses and speculation are therefore kept deliberately separate. The purpose is not to ask the viewer what to believe, but to allow the evidence itself to be examined, challenged and weighed.
Extensive historical reconstructions, scientific visualisations, courtroom sequences and cinematic imagery bring this investigation to life across ten interconnected chapters. As the evidence accumulates, the central question becomes increasingly difficult to avoid:
What is the Shroud of Turin — and who was the man in the cloth?
The documentary is presently in its final production phase. Individual chapters are not yet available for public viewing. Selected private screenings may be provided directly to invited participants, researchers and project contacts.
